The white Alba truffle grows in a natural environment ( both in wild conditions and in ones created by man), unless it is not damaged. Man is the real enemy of the truffle: destroying the development of the environment, cutting the symbiotic trees, occupying the land with cultivations and other things, taking every truffle produced , even that which is not matured and the truffles of July and August, very important for preservation of the truffle species.
OUR MISSION
We’re united to protect our fragile forest ecosystems so the next generation truffle hunters can carry the region’s traditions into the future.
To make work, recreate or defend the natural eOur passion for truffle hunting is dependent on the health of our forests and our forests depend on us for their protection. That is why we have joined together and built a network of community support to maintain a culturally rich and environmentally sound Piedmont. Our primary goal is reclaiming forest land that is at risk of deforestation and bringing it into our Terre Di Tartufi Nature Preserve. Under our charter this land will remain protected forever.
From an acorn an oak can be born but, if we do not maintain the biodiversity of the habitat, a white Alba truffle will never grow.
The objective of the Association is that of developing a long term project based on the study, conservation and management of the biodiversity in the hilly environment to obtain fundamental data on the species and the habitat of the area in question and therefore preserve this unique environment in general. Habitats always more and more disfigured, neglected and exploited for intensive cultivation (vineyards and hazels), the excessive use of pesticides, weed-killers and chemical fertilizers, for the uncontrolled destruction, the reduction of the humid surfaces. In practise the management of the biodiversity requires decisions and subsequently actions to carry out in the territory characterized with a complementation of interests which permit to minimize the counterparts and the conflicts. To obtain this result dialogue is a necessity with a concrete participation of the local authorities, the environmental associations,agricultures,trifulao and the turistic promoters. Only the synergy amongst these groups can bring about a goal for this precious objective: preserving the environment and therefore the territory to maintain the ideal places for the production and the gathering of the white truffle.
TRUFFLE BEDS AND CONSERVATION OF THE BIODIVERSITY
To carry out didactic truffle beds in public gardens and parks, in public green areas, in school gardens. Truffle beds of the white Alba truffle in the private and lands of the Association Terre di Tartufi which they can manage.
Conservation, improvement, increase the truffle beds already existent in the territory, but probably in extinction of production because of negligence.
WHO PLANTS A TREE, PLANTS A HOPE
Various activities of study and formation, didactic meetings in the schools, public debates, participations at fairs and exhibitions. One of the responsibilities we have towards our children is to transmit to them the values which we think are fundamental. For those that are aware of the importance of the safeguard of the environment around us it is essential to transmit to our children respect for nature and the knowledge of how much value there is in its balance, also for our existence.
